Once a much-loved retail landmark, Arding & Hobbs’ civic presence had been eroded away by unsympathetic additions and failing tenants. exigere is proud to have supported a world-class team – W.RE, Stiff + Trevillion, B&CO, NDY and AKT II – to return this listed building back to its former glory whilst creating a new blueprint for contemporary mixed-use developments.

Spanning 97,000 sq ft over seven floors, Stiff + Trevillion's reimagination of this icon celebrates its unique history whilst equipping its tenants for modern-day work, rest and play. The redevelopment of the site involved repairs to the existing structure and partial demolition of some internal structural elements to refurbish and develop the space. A new two-storey CLT and GLULAM extension offers best-in-class office space providing vistas across central London from the newly created roof terrace amenity space.
Its remarkable brick and stone facade, along with the heritage timber windows, were meticulously restored, preserving their original character. The renowned cupola tower also received a complete restoration, ensuring its continued presence as a landmark.
